Our Story
Brainworks started with a simple belief: your brain has the power to change and technology can help. Founded in 2007 in the UK, we’ve spent almost 20 years helping people improve their mental clarity, focus, and emotional balance through advanced neurofeedback — technology that trains your brain to work better, from the inside out.
Our Beginnings
James and Sarah Roy founded Brainworks after experiencing firsthand how neurofeedback changed their lives. In those early days, the technology was still new to the UK. They started small, with a two-sensor system, but never stopped looking for better ways to help more people.
That pursuit led them to adopt 19-sensor deep brain mapping and training, the most advanced tech in the field, setting a new standard for what neurofeedback could be.
Pioneering Remote Neurofeedback
Long before remote brain training became common, we were already working on it. When we couldn’t find a system that met our standards for home use, our team built our own, designing the first professional-grade remote neurofeedback system.
By 2015, we were running the world’s first dedicated remote clinic. When COVID-19 hit, we didn’t have to pivot; we were already helping people train their brains safely at home.
Today, we support both individual clients and other therapists around the world through our software.
Built on Family Values
What started as a family-run practice has grown into a global name in neurofeedback. But we’re still grounded in the values we began with: personal care, professional excellence, and a commitment to helping people feel better in their daily lives.
Our team includes some of the Europe’s most experienced neurofeedback clinicians, all working together to guide you through meaningful brain change.

Our Technology
Clinic-Quality Neurofeedback.
Wherever You Are.
At Brainworks, we’ve designed our neurofeedback technology to bring powerful, science-backed brain training into your home. No complicated tech setups, no guesswork. Just professional-grade brain training tailored to how your brain works best.
.
Remote Neurofeedback System
Our remote platform integrates 19-sensor qEEG brain maps and deep brain (Loreta) neurofeedback technology (NeuroGuide) to deliver clinic-quality training on a practical and easy-to-use platform. This approach ensures that each session is efficiently tailored to your unique brain patterns and training goals
Interactive Brain Mapping
We re-map your brain every 6 sessions. This information allows us to update your protocol as your brain changes. Your therapist will review these maps and your progress with you.
Feedback Customisation
The system offers various feedback options and types which can be tailored to individual preferences. This includes compatibility with different media sources and streaming services, including Youtube, Netflix etc, for a personalized experience. If you have an account we can use it.
Remote Session Management
The therapist’s console allows for remote management of sessions. This includes updating your neurofeedback training protocols, tracking progress, and adjusting settings based on the user’s preferences and progress. Throughout the session, both the therapist and client can see each other as well.
Technology Without Compromise
Most at-home neurofeedback systems only use 2 to 4 sensors, giving them a limited, surface-level view of how your brain is functioning. This means they’re often training your brain without seeing the full picture – like tuning a piano while only listening to one key.
At Brainworks, we use a 19-sensor system, the same professional-grade technology trusted by clinics and research labs worldwide.
This allows us to see both the deep and surface brain activity including brain wave power, phase and coherence. This leads to more accurate training and faster, more lasting results.
Our difference isn’t just in the hardware:
- Purpose-built software: Unlike most systems that adapt generic software for brain training, our platform was designed in-house, specifically for remote neurofeedback, creating a smoother, safer, and more effective experience.
- Trusted globally: Professionals, researchers, and clinics across the world use our system because it works.
More sensors mean Better Data, and better data means Better Results
